Using the STAR model as a diagnostic framework, assess your own organization using principles covered in class.

The written analysis is due prior to synchronous Session 10. Your paper is expected to be 12 to 15 pages long.

Suggested Outline
I. Introduction (1 to 2 pages)

Preview the purpose of your analysis and paper

Describe the organization mission, vision, goals, and any other useful background to establish the context of the organization

Address the organization recent performance (successes and challenges)

Describe the organization environment and the key factors that are impacting the organization
II. Diagnosis Star Model Assessment (9 to 10 pages)

Using the STAR model, address each aspect for your organization. This is a detailed, objective analysis of your organization using the concepts, principles, and analytical tools for the following: strategy, structure, processes and lateral capability, people, and rewards.

What is your recommendation for any design changes based on your overall assessment and alignment of the STAR elements?

As you describe your organization from each of these diagnostic perspectives, you will

  • Apply a broad range of concepts, principles, and analytical tools appropriately and accurately
  • Explicitly state the concepts and principles you are employing
  • Use examples from your organization to illustrate your points
  •  Accompany all charts and figures with a clear explanation of their content
  •  Maintain a descriptive tone (not evaluative or judgmental)
  •  Be attentive to style (i.e., language, flow, form) of your argument

Your final grade for this project will be based on evaluation of your Star Model Assessment determined by breadth of concepts, principles, and analytical tools that you apply appropriately and accurately depth of your insight into your organization from each perspective
