Discussion On Mindfulness Interventions

Nursing homework help

Describe your experience practicing this technique and how this experience influences your choice on whether to use it with a client during practice.

Mindfulness-based interventions highly enhance the potential well-being of people. While watching the videos, it felt like a breath of fresh air for one to utilize those basic techniques and feel an improvement in their inner soul. This would be great to incorporate into a treatment plan for a client who has been dealing with stressful life events. It can begin by just doing breathing exercises and focusing on positive moments of their lives. I use it as a stress reliever by taking a moment for myself and doing my breathing exercise.

Connect your reaction to the mindfulness exercise with how a client might respond.

Since mindfulness can be said to be the art of paying attention to what is happening at the moment without judgment, it is using it with the client. Whenever a client is presenting a problem to you, using your interventions, you certainly give sound solutions and ways to overcome it. Referring to Sam’s scenario, providing an excuse for drinking as soothing recurring nightmares would be vague. I would advise him to take long walks, breathing exercises, and autogenic training since he would always be exhausted in the evening and would easily sleep until the following day. Before I use this technique on a client, I would try to understand his feelings and responsiveness to withstand any hardship. I would use brief self-disclosure with the client to reassure him that through resilience and mindfulness, hope is possible.

In 1–2 sentences, briefly summarize the methodological context (i.e., research method, how data was collected, and the instruments used) of the studies and the findings.

Systematic review and meta-analysis investigate MBI’s impacts on human well-being. Data is collected via data extraction strategy and study screening, where titles and abstracts discussed by reviewers were screened using inclusion criteria. Quality appraisal was also used using tools to evaluate the appropriateness, feasibility, meaningfulness, and efficacy of interventions in healthcare. Stratified block randomization was also used as a data collection method (Garland, 2013).

Analyze the findings in terms of their validity and applicability for the client.

The findings from the search results indicated that the intervention length ranged from five weeks to nine months. Most searches noted that mindfulness-based intervention improved healthcare workers’ well-being and reduced burnout. The validity of the findings relative to applicability for the client is how positive the impact is. The use of mindfulness makes them view life from a very different perspective, no matter the situation.

Describe your experience practicing this technique and how this experience influences your choice on whether to use it with a client during practice.

My experience with mindfulness intervention is when I used it with a twenty-five-year-old woman and her emotional irregulation. This client has struggled with PTSD that was given by her father at a young age. This is the reason for her outlashes. When using mindfulness it is supposed to inhance the experience of the intervention. (Somohano 2022). Therefore, I agree that using holistic interventions, like mindfulness, is a great way to help a client fight their inner struggles.

In 1–2 sentences, briefly summarize the methodological context (i.e., research method, how data was collected, and the instruments used) of the studies and the findings.

This article targeted PTSD patients and how mindfulness reduced their symptoms. The research was conducted on individuals who range from 18-64.

Analyze the findings in terms of their validity and applicability for the client.

In the article it descibed how mindfulness has reduced stress, anxiety, depression, and more. (Somohano 2022) . The client that I am focusing on had depression and PTSD. When I was able to sit the client down and speak with her after an outburst and help her with breathing and thinking she was able to recognize what she had to work on. Also when reviewing the article they used the PTSD scale. When I was working with my client I did not use this but it would have beneficial. The scale determined how sever the PTSD is. After finding the severity they deteremined what form of mindfulness to use.

Describe your experience practicing this technique and how this experience influences your choice on whether to use it with a client during practice.

What is mindfulness? “Mindfulness is a psychological phenomenon that is now being studied for its relevance to mental and physical health in fields such as medicine, psychology, and neuroscience”(Garland, 2013). The experience of practicing mindfulness as a technique is beneficial to my body physically and mentally. I could focus on breathing while freeing my mind of any thoughts. However, the technique became effective the more I did it. Therefore, the more the client uses the breathing technique, the more beneficial it will improve their overall well-being. Overall, I would implement mindfulness during my practice.

Briefly summarize the methodological context (i.e., research method, how data was collected, and the instruments used) of the studies and the findings.

The method used for this research was 300 students ranging from 13 to 21 years of age. Weekly 50–60 min sessions were conducted in groups of between 13 and 26 students. The students were assessed through 6 core items: (a) body awareness; (b) understanding and working with thoughts; (c) understanding and working with emotions; (d) integrating awareness of thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations; (e) reducing harmful self-judgments; and (f) integrating mindful awareness into daily life. Furthermore, it was suggested that the students implement mindfulness at home to increase effectiveness. The data was collected using Hierarchical linear modeling seven.

Analyze the findings in terms of their validity and applicability for the client.

The findings from the article stated older adolescents in the control condition showed significant increases in depression and somatic symptoms that the intervention seemed to prevent. Moreover, interpersonal difficulties decreased for older adolescents who participated in the MBI. However, for younger adolescents in the MBI, there were increases in depression and depressed affect” (Gomez-Odriozola & Calvete, 2021)
