Utilize the attached outline to answer the questions below
- List at least ten keywords you might use in an electronic search for literature. Refer to a thesaurus to see if they are valid for use in the database you plan to access.
- Name the logical operator(s) (AND, NOT, OR) described in this topic that you will use between your keywords, and explain why.
After you have read published research on your topic, if needed, redefine some of your definitions of each variable in light of how other researchers have defined them.
- List the headings and subheadings you anticipate using to organize your literature review. (Note that these may change after you have carefully examined all the literature on your topic.)
- Will you use sampling to obtain participants for your research? If yes, do you plan to use random sampling, systematic sampling, or some other method of sampling? Explain.
- Do you anticipate collecting demographics? If yes, list them and explain why you made that decision.
- In light of the information in this topic and in the previous topic, what is your anticipated sample size? Explain the basis for your decision.
- Research topics in Aviation
- Effects of Airports Safety and Security issues enforced on customer satisfaction.
- Social Media in Aviation Crisis Management
- Enhancing cyber security in the aviation industry
- How Helicopters Enhance the Aviation Industry
- Fitness and Performance relationship in Aviation
- Observations
- Effects of Airports Safety and Security issues enforced on customer satisfaction – Currently, there are increasing incidences of accidents due to poor maintenance and inspections (Ji et al., 2019).
- Social Media in Aviation Crisis Management – the popularity of social media platforms gives airlines a potent tool that can be used to analyze their response capabilities in managing a crisis (Zhang, Chen, & Hu, 2018).
- Enhancing cyber security in the aviation industry – cybersecurity is a developing concept aiming to cab the growing incidences of data breaches, hacking and other forms of cybercrimes (Corallo et al., 2022).
- How Helicopters Enhance the Aviation Industry – helicopters provide conveniences and ease of accessibility in the aviation industry, hence requiring a rejuvenated use and consideration (Zhang, Chen, & Hu, 2018).
- Fitness and Performance relationship in Aviation – the performance of aviation workers is closed related to their physical fitness and good health (Ji et al., 2019).
- Research Method – experimental or a non-experimental
I will choose Enhancing cyber security in the aviation industry as the focus of this study. This study will be non-experimental because it will be based on studying cybercrimes’ past and present trends to determine the best course of action. Therefore, it will compare the number of cybersecurity cases and statistics for bodies like the FBI over the years and try to give explanations of the trends.
- Research Hypothesis
Cases of cybercrimes have increased considerably in the aviation industry within the last decade.
- Major Variable
- Cybersecurity incidences – this will compare the number of cybercrimes reported on an annual basis over the years.
- Cost of cybercrimes – this will also compare the financial implications of cybercrimes over the years.
- Common forms of cybercrimes – this will check the shifting focus of cyber criminals and the changes and sophistication involved.
- Type of Approach – qualitative or quantitative
The approach used will be quantitative because the study will be dealing with actual numbers and numerical values while estimating costs and incidences.
- Involvement of human participants
The study will not require human participants as data sources because it will use primary data only obtained from bodies and agencies that compile statistical data on cybersecurity. In case of no free access and unauthorized access to this data, I may be required to seek consent and authorization from the bodies involved in the data.

- Keywords
Aviation, Aviation CSIRT, incident response management, critical infrastructure, cybersecurity hub, Cyber-security, cybercrime, hacking, phishing, Critical infrastructure, and Cybersecurity airworthiness.
- Logical operator
This study will mostly use AND as the only logical operator because it makes a lot of sense to use it while connecting the words. OR might not be necessary because we are not working with alternatives.
- Headings and subheadings
- Cybersecurity incidences over the last decade
- Causes of increased cybersecurity
- Why aviation industry has to boost cybersecurity
- Common forms of cybercrimes
- Financial implications of cybercrimes in the aviation sector
- Proposed solutions to cybersecurity cases
- Sampling
I will not use any sampling method because the study will not require human participants to obtain data. The study will used secondary data from agencies and organizations such as NIST, FBI, CSIRT to study the statistical trends of cybercrimes over the last dacade.
- Demographics
Demographic data is not necessary for this study because related parameters, including gender, age, ethnicity, social statuses will not be applied as one of the variables to be assessed. Primary variables will be the number of recorded cybersecurity case across a given period and the associated financial implications.
- Sample size
Since the study will not have participants, sample size cannot be explicitly quantified. However, since I will be checking trends across the years, I will study the cybersecurity trends within the last decade (2011 to 2021).
