The case study is about Helen Petrakis, a 52-year-old heterosexual married female of Greek descent. Hellen feels that a lot of work and household duties, as well as the stress of taking care of her mother-in-law, Magda who is 81 years, is overwhelming her and escalating her stress and anxiety levels. This paper uses the case study to complete the practice and program-level logic model tables.

Practice-Level Logic Model Outline

Problem Needs Underlying Causes Intervention Activities Outcomes
The experience of high levels of stress and anxiety due to work overload at work and home. Psychological interventions, workload reduction, and peace of mind at work and home (McGoldrick & Hardy, 2019). Cultural beliefs that mothers are absolutely responsible for house chores and that children cannot help. Helen is, therefore, overwhelmed to complete both career and home responsibilities. Connecting Helen with community resources such as support groups, and counseling therapy. They may also need other support, for instance, with house chores (Donorfio et al., 2010). Reduced stress and anxiety to insignificant levels. The feelings of anxiety and stress are expected to disappear (McGoldrick & Hardy, 2019).
Additional stress and anxiety due to the care of her mother in-law. Assistance to care for the mother in-law. Alec has a history of drug abuse, but Helen did not expect this would affect his grandmother. Family counseling to enable Helen and Alec understand how best they can support Magda (Donorfio et al., 2010). Elimination of the symptoms of stress and anxiety (Wolgensinger, 2022).

This practical level logic model outline identifies the problem as the experience of a high level of stress anxiety due to workload both at work and home. Some of the needs include Psychological interventions, workload reduction, and peace of mind at work and home (Donorfio et al., 2010). These needs can be achieved by connecting Helen with support groups, counseling therapy interventions, and other support. Outcomes of these interventions include reduced stress and anxiety (Wolgensinger, 2022). Greek belief about housework and Alec’s substance abuse character is the underlying cause of the problem.

In the support group, the participants will meet for one and half hours every week for nine consecutive weeks. A trained facilitator will lead the sessions. Each topic will be presented every week (Donorfio et al., 2010). There will be short exercises, group discussions, and weekly readings assigned for the next week. The trainer will administer pre-and-post intervention questionnaires to assess the effectiveness of the support group.

Program-Level Logic Model Outline

Problem Needs Underlying Causes Intervention Activities Outcomes
Hellen lacks the skills required to care for older people and the family. Professional programs/family educational programs to educate Helen about caring for a family and older relatives without feeling overwhelmed (McGoldrick & Hardy, 2019). Lack of exposure to or education about being a caretaker for family and older people. Individual or group educational programs about caring for a family and older people to equip Helen with such knowledge and skills (McGoldrick & Hardy, 2019). ·  Helen should demonstrate knowledge and skills about taking care of the family and her mother in law effectively without being overwhelmed (McGoldrick  & Hardy, 2019).

·  Relief from anxiety and stress.

As stated in the program level logic model outline, group education or counseling would be of significance to Helen. Group members should be people with similar experiences (Wolgensinger, 2022). Both individuals who are currently undergoing similar experiences and those who have overcome such experiences should form part of the group. Group activities include education about the caregiving of older adults. They will learn how to manage emotional and mental disruptions. She will learn how to identify signs of mental abuse (McGoldrick & Hardy, 2019). Roleplaying and scenario roles can assist in providing skills regarding caregiving.

Short-term outcomes include reduced stress and anxiety and elimination of abuse experienced by her mother-in-law. After the intervention, it is expected that the stress and anxiety will end (Wolgensinger, 2022). Also, Hellen will be accessible to assistance and resources for caregiving. Long-term impact includes gaining skills and understanding regarding the caretaker’s role and responsibility. Outcomes can be measured through interviews or questionnaires after a while (McGoldrick & Hardy, 2019). The levels of stress and anxiety may be assessed as a measure of the outcomes.

In summary, Hellen has experienced mental problems due to being overwhelmed with work at home and work. She cannot fulfill her home duties due to work overload. She simply lacks caretaker skills and requires support groups and counseling interventions, among other help.
