Write as if you had an interview with the Brea community center leader of the after-school program who works with childhood obesity, the Hispanic population, and the low-income socio-economic class. You will need to collect the following information during the interview and discuss it in this weeks Discussion Board:
Describe the setting and the role of the professional (after school program leader) in the care, guidance, and assistance of the vulnerable population. Where did the interview take place? (the brea community center)
Discuss 23 ethical issues or considerations of managing the vulnerable population group\’s care.
Identify 23 potential evidence-based COVID-19 related education interventions that you could do (for the population or family) to improve the vulnerable population\’s health outcomes based on your assessment and feedback from the agency.
Choose 1 evidence-based COVID-19 related education intervention to improve the health outcomes of this vulnerable population based on your assessment of the population, and explain why you chose it as well as how you anticipate the education intervention to improve their health.
How will an interprofessional collaborative approach to this educational intervention potentially improve the health outcomes of this vulnerable population? (Possibly discounts for the low income socio-econimc class, healthy snacks andmeals?)
Examples of education that might be delivered include the following:
Nutrition
Local resources available (e.g., AA, Al-Anon, community food bank, ride service for MD appointment)
Washing your hands
Potential Resources-
Veterans Affairs – Public Health
National Network of Libraries of Medicine

I interviewed the Brea Community Center leader of the after-school program who works with childhood obesity, the Hispanic population, and the low-income socio-economic class. The interviewee is the coordinator of the program and works to care, guide and assist the vulnerable population. The interview took place in the Brea Community Center.
Ethical issues that need to be considered while managing the vulnerable group’s care include limited access to healthcare, discrimination, and inequality. The three vulnerable populations (childhood obesity, Hispanic population, and low-income socio-economic class) have limited access to healthcare due to a possible lack of health insurance, migration status hindering their access to regular primary care services like preventive services and health education (Tangcharoensathien et al., 2018). The three populations are vulnerable to discrimination and inequality due to their social class and immigration status. They are therefore likely to face issues affecting their access and reception to care.
The two evidence-based COVID-19 related education interventions that could be utilized to improve the population’s health outcomes would include nutrition and washing of hands. According to HealthyPeople.gov. (2019), educational interventions aimed at preventing disease, improving health, and enhancing the quality of life. The populations need to be educated on the need for the consumption of healthy foods within the recommended portions. The intake of healthy foods is likely to improve the populations’ immunity, lowering the risk of disease and keeping the body systems stronger. Similarly, the populations need to understand the importance of regularly washing their hands with soap and water to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus from one person to the other.
An educational intervention that I would choose to improve the population’s health outcomes would be educating them about the community food bank. This will facilitate the population’s access to healthy foods which would ensure that they consume the recommended portions of foods to improve their immunity.
An inter-professional collaborative approach would ensure that different members of an interdisciplinary team come together hence facilitating access to healthy snacks and meals while at the same time providing discounts for the low-income socio-economic class.
