My interest is to be placed at an agency that provides services to under privileged and under served individuals. One of my learning goals is to gain more of an understanding of frameworks and/or theories and ways in which I can apply/incorporate those in practice.

My main interest at the moment is to be placed in an agency that provides services to the vulnerable people in the society including the under-served and under-privileged. This interest stems from the desire to make positive change within the community, especially with regard to promoting social justice. I want to help my clients realize their potential by fully utilizing their strengths. I am also interested in working with clients from different backgrounds. My main learning goal during the field internship is to gain better understanding of social work frameworks and theories and how I can incorporate them in practice. My other goal includes learning more about social policies and how they impact specific client population. In intend to improve my ability to critically analyze the policies and find ways to use them to support my clients’ needs.

I will be of service to clients by assessing their problems and finding ways to help them get through them. I know that in order to understand clients, I have to listen to them talk about their experiences and what they feel. I will also be of service to clients by showing empathy and attempting to initiate a positive professional relationship that will enhance their wellbeing. I will also focus on evaluating my clients’ progress and determine if the selected interventions work. I will be of service to the field agency by adhering to the agency’s policies when working with clients. I will also help the agency fulfill its responsibility to members of the community by doing my best to improve the status of the clients I work with.
