Professional Development Assignment: Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Part 5
In this week Discussion you were introduced to the concept of an academic portfolio to begin building your own brand. Portfolios have value that go beyond brand-building however. An academic and professional portfolio can also help you to build your own vision and mission and establish your development goals. In this regard, a portfolio becomes yet another tool in your toolbox as you build your success.
In this Assignment you will continue developing your Academic Success and Professional Development Plan by developing the fifth component: a portfolio for your academic and professional efforts.
To Prepare:
Consider your goals for academic accomplishments while a student of the MSN program.

Using the Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Template in which you began to work on in Week 1, and have continued working on through this course, in Part 5, you will create a fully developed and accurate curriculum vitae (CV) based on your current education and professional background.

Notes: When choosing the institution where I will advance my nursing skills, I carefully checked the resources available in terms of support and education materials. A glance at Walden University website shows numerous resources for an MSN student and a team ready to help a student in many ways. I chose Dr. Kuric due to her broad experience [35 years] in the provision of nursing and advanced practice nursing care. Since I plan to read and consult wide, I selected her since she has published many materials useful in the nursing practice. She has written articles, book chapters, and continuing education programs. Using her as my guide will make me a successful nursing professional who is motivated to advance my career later.

Notes: In every profession, working together with people sharing the same vision, challenges, and expectations is critical for success. I have collaborated with fellow students before, and I understand what it means using colleagues as support systems. Mostly, we face the same challenges, but our strengths profoundly vary. Colleagues also understand the extent of the challenges others face and are ready to help. In the same case, they understand one potential and can be a very reliable team in giving work referrals later in the course. Through colleagues, I look forward to learning and share new ideas. Walden University also provides discussion forums, and I believe using them jointly with the usual communication platforms will help us connect and form a strong study partnership.

He is experienced in several critical nursing practice areas, such as electronic media record implementation, creating positive cultures, and patient experience. My primary motivation in connecting with him is to learn the art of creating positive cultures throughout my practice.

Notes: Irrespective of being a student, it is important to know how the entire industry operates. Nurses experience challenges and should have a common voice when airing their views. The ANA is among the numerous nursing organizations registered in the United States. I chose to work closely with its members to help me in professional development.
Membership in such organizations provides nurses with certification opportunities and role-related competencies. As a professional determined to know the changes taking place in the nursing profession daily, I believe that being a part of this professional team will offer me more than what my colleagues in class could provide.
