Identify your leadership style, skills, and qualities.
Consider how leadership style affects change.
Post a description of leadership style needed to implement your proposed change. In your response, address the following:
What leadership style do you need to implement the proposed change? What qualities are necessary to implement this proposed change?
How does this leadership style connect with how you will disseminate the results?
Remember that each leadership style is not applicable to every issue. So, considering your leadership style, what do you have and what do you need? Is there a gap? Will you need additional support for implementation? How does your particular style apply to your proposed change?

Leadership Style
Leadership styles are not required to run the operations of an organization but they are also necessary for ensuring the success of quality improvement projects. The specific clinical practice problem that the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project will address is that 50-60% obtaining care at the outpatient clinic have obesity and they do not engage in weight loss programs to enable them to maintain a healthy weight. A majority of healthcare providers in the facility are unable to provide appropriate weight loss guidance to patients due to their limited knowledge regarding obesity management (Osmundsen et al., 2019). The clinical practice question that the DNP project seeks to address states that “For adult obesity patients (P), does the implementation of a staff education on obesity management (I) as compared to lack of staff education (C) improve patient’s enrollment to weight loss program (O) over a period of 6 weeks(T)?” The purpose of this assignment is to describe the leadership style appropriate for implementing the proposed change and how it connects with how the DNP student will disseminate results.
Transformational Leadership Style and Necessary Leadership Qualities
The leadership style that the DNP student needs to implement the proposed change is the transformational leadership style. According to Marshall and Broome (2016), the transformational leadership style is an approach to leadership where a leader develops strong relationships with the people involved in a change and influences them to improve and work together to achieve the desired goal. Since the DNP student will be working with the project team and other stakeholders to implement the proposed change, the transformational leadership style will enable the student to be an exemplary role model to the project team, motivate the team to remain focused on a common purpose, encourage creativity and innovation among the team members, and offer the necessary coaching and advice to motivate the project team to attain the desired goal (Zainol et al., 2021).
The DNP student, as a transformational leader, should possess certain leadership qualities to be able to successfully implement the proposed change. The necessary leadership qualities include effective communication, commitment, creativity, collaboration, coaching, delegation, and goal-oriented (Zainol et al., 2021). These leadership qualities will enable the DNP student to steer the project in the right direction.
How Transformational Leadership Connects With Dissemination of Results
Transformational leadership style adequately connects with how the DNP student will disseminate results. Precisely, when disseminating results, the DNP student will have to communicate effectively and explain concepts clearly to enable the audience to understand the project’s contribution to quality improvement. One of the essential domains of transformational leadership style is intellectual stimulation which entails challenging the normal beliefs and promoting critical thinking and problem-solving (Asif et al., 2019). Using this transformational leadership characteristic, the DNP student will disseminate results in a manner that promotes critical thinking and influences the audience to use the findings to solve problems and challenge coming beliefs.
Possible Gaps and Additional Support for Implementation
Even with the transformational leadership characteristics and qualities, the DNP student will still need support to implement the proposed change successfully. For instance, the student will need support from the leadership of the organization and staff members to ensure that staff education is conducted as planned (Mathieson et al., 2019). Combining these support options with leadership qualities will ensure the successful completion of the planned activities.
Conclusion
Transformational leadership style is generally appropriate to the proposed change. To successfully implement staff education in the facility, the project requires a leader who can be an exemplary role model to the project team, motivate the team to remain focused on a common purpose, encourage creativity and innovation among the team members, and offer the necessary coaching and advice to motivate the project team to attain the desired goal. The best leadership style that provides all these qualities is the transformational leadership style.
