Once you have a clear understanding of what your organization needs, it is time to consider the interview process. This assignment is a continuation of the acquiring, developing, and leveraging employee process you have already been working on during this course. The interview process is an important step in hiring the right person for your organization.

For this assignment, develop an interview strategy you would consider using to interview and select the right candidate for your organization. You are required to use the job description you developed in the previous assignment. As you are developing your interview strategy, think about testing options that would benefit the interview process. The following must be included in your interview strategy (750-1,000 words):

A detailed description of the time, place, format, interview type, and employees involved in the actual interview process.
At least one testing option to be included in the selection process. Explain why this testing option is best suited for selecting a diverse array of employees.
A minimum of four situational and four behavioral interview questions you would use to interview for the job. (Reminder: Use the job description from your previous assignment.)
Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Job Interview

An interview is the most convenient way of selecting the best candidate for any organization. Regardless of the number of years, one has worked as a nurse, he/she must pass through an interview to test the necessary skills (Aspen University, 2022). Interviews are structured based on the job description. This paper presents an interview for the ICU nurse position.

Testing Option

-Demonstration of how to conduct an initial physical examination of the patient.

The test option will include asking the candidates to demonstrate how to conduct an initial physical examination of a patient. Conducting a physical examination of a patient is a universal knowledge that nurses and other healthcare workers should have (Jarvis, 2018). It is a routine test that healthcare workers (nurses, doctors, physician assistants) perform to check the overall health of the individual. Physical examination is important at the initial point of admission or outpatient care to understand the overall health condition of the patient (Meister et al., 2018). All healthcare providers who are involved in the treatment process of a patient must keep monitoring the patients’ medical condition through physical examination (Jarvis, 2018). Therefore, physical examination is a test that is best suited for selecting a diverse array of employees.

  • How do you handle difficult family members who disagree with the care that the patient agreed to?

Behavioral Interview Questions

  • Nurses perform more work at their workplaces than other health care providers. They should be there always to address the needs of their patients, so, they get exhausted, and sometimes the work gets piled up. How do you handle extreme pressure when performing your duties as an ICU nurse?

  • It is sometimes difficult to perceive the impact of an illness or hospitalization on a patient’s life. Tell me about a time when you were able to step into another person’s shoes to understand how they were feeling. What did you do or say in that instance?
  • Tell me about a time when someone (supervisor, co-worker, patient) wasn’t happy with your performance at work even though you were doing the very best you could. How did it affect you? Did you do anything about the situation, and if so, what?
