Discuss the scope of your project and what your budgetary requirements are or will be. Identify the steps you will need to take in the budget planning process to implement your project.

My project is to implement real time case management in the ER. They will work closely with the ER physican and the admitting physician to determines if some of the patients could be released home to be treated there if home health or resources could be arranged out side of the hospital. We are hopeful this will decrease the amount of admissions that have short lengths of stay . By doing son we hope add 2-3 case managers staffing the ER. This will hopefully decrease the amount hours spent on the arrange peer to peer reviews.

DQ 5: Scope of the Project and Budgetary Requirements

Understanding the scope of the project is a key requirement for proper budget planning. The proposed project entails the implementation of real-time case management in the emergency room (ER). Case managers will work closely with the ER physician and the admitting physician to determine if some of the patients could be released home to be treated there and if home health or resources could be arranged outside of the hospital. It is anticipated that the proposed project, when successfully implemented, will decrease the number of admissions that have short lengths of stay. To meet this goal, the department will add 2-3 case managers to the current ER staff. This will hopefully decrease the number of hours spent to arrange peer-to-peer reviews. In this respect, the budgetary requirements will include funds that will be used as compensation for the additional case managers and for purchasing resources required for providing home-based care outside the hospital should this be found necessary.

The project team will take clear steps in the planning process to implement the proposed project. Budget planning is the initial step of the budget cycle. Budget planning comprises the tasks performed when drafting a budget (Saini et al., 2022). The specific steps that will be taken in the budget planning process in the project include; defining the scope of the project, determining the resources required for the project, estimating the costs of the required resources, and drafting the budget to establish the approximate amount of money required for the completion of the project. The estimation phase is what is known as costing in financial terms (Anderson et al., 2020). Following the four identified steps will enable the project team to determine and strive to acquire the money required for successful project completion.
