Topic: Enhancing cyber security in the aviation industry

What evidence would you use to show your project result in some meaningful body of work or artifact, and why?

This project will use statistical data from the identified bodies and agencies – NIST, FBI, and CSIRT to act as evidence. These databases provide statical compilations of numerical trends of cybercrimes and associated implications over the years. The data will include the number or percentage of cybercrime activities that were recorded on annual basis from 2011 to 2021. Subcategorization will be considered to focus on the trends that have been seen in the aviation sector. Additionally, other subcategories in terms of common forms of cybercrimes, including phishing, hacking, virus installation, and so on, and the relevant statistics will be considered. Furthermore, the study will also assess the financial implications of these cybercrimes over the years, the growing costs of a breach, and the increasing accumulation of personal and sensitive data in the digital platform as contributors to increasing cybercrimes.

Such data will provide information on whether the number of cybercrime activities is growing or not, whether the impact of cybercrime activities is increasing or not, and whether the aviation sector is affected or at an increased risk of being affected or not (Chokhonelidze et al., 2020). Finally, the findings will inform the urgency of cybersecurity actions to be taken and recommend some of the approaches that can be adopted.
