Obesity Defined

According to The Obesity Medicine Associations the definition of obesity is, “a chronic, relapsing,

multifactorial
,

neurobehavioral
disease, where an increase in body fat promotes adipose tissue dysfunction and abnormal fat mass physical forces, resulting in adverse metabolic,

biomechanical
and psychosocial health consequences”Wow! I did not know that it was that complex. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), states that obesity is a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30.0 or higher and is determined by a person height and weight.
There is often

intolerance
of obese people, more so females. Obese people are often stigmatized. This can happen in the

work place
, at school, or within healthcare. Obese people are often seen as lazy, greedy, less competent, sloppy, less conscientious, think slower, poor self discipline, and emotionally unstable, although this is not the case with most people.
People can become obese due to genetics, their metabolism, learnt behavior, culture, social economic status. Normally, their calorie intake is high and not burning these calories by using energy, therefore their body stores the extra calories as fat, leading to excess weight and obesity.
Excess food and leading a sedentary

live
style is the main culprit, showing that obesity is preventable. I think we can tackle the obesity epidemic by taking out corn syrup and fructose syrup and other sugars from foods, also reduce the sizes of soda and charge for refills. I also think

potion
sizes should be smaller when purchasing fast foods. America can follow Europe with small

potion
sizes. I think Florida should have excellent public transportation, as this would encourage more people to move and run for buses and trains, as currently everyone has to drive because of lack public transportation. More parks and trees are necessary for

family
to enjoy and the tree to use as shade to encourage people to walk

with out
the heat beating down on them. I also think that gyms should be free

for
or a very small fee to give those on

low income incentive
to go and workout at the gym allowing them to be in that positive environment seeing

other
get fit.
