Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this letter to apply for a nursing position with the medical-surgical department in your organization. I learned about the vacancy through your recent advertisement. As a registered nurse who has been authorized to practice nursing within the state, I believe that I possess the competencies, skills, and knowledge required to provide quality care to patients. My academic qualifications, professional experiences, as well as personal strengths, meet your outlined job requirements.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from Western Kentucky University. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at the University of Texas at Tyler School of Nursing and I am expecting to graduate in August 2022. I will combine my nursing skills with those of health care administration to ensure that patients in the medical-surgical department receive safe and high-quality healthcare services. When I was working as Psych Nurse Aide at UT Health North Campus Tyler, I learned to take vital signs, observe patients’ behaviors, and monitor patient safety. Additionally, when working as the direct support professional at Community Access, Inc. Tyler, my key role was to monitor residents to prevent falls and injuries. I adequately understand the nursing process and I can apply it in practice to assess patients, diagnose different types of illnesses, plan care, implement treatment interventions, and evaluate/monitor patients’ progress. My academic achievements, strengths, and skills, together with my BLS and Stop the Bleed Certifications, make me a competent person who will provide optimum care to patients in the medical-surgical department while also helping the organization to achieve its mission and goals.
