According to the NC Farm Bureau (2013), our farmers are among the most productive in the world even though they lack a stable and reliable workforce. But the workforce problems in agriculture have reached a breaking point. Food demand continues to rise. This issue cannot be passed along for the next Congress to resolve. It must be addressed now. Workforce problems are making our farms less competitive on the world stage and threaten the abundant, secure, affordable local food we all enjoy today. We must have reform to the immigration system so that farmers can have access to the workers they need. It’s simple; import our workers or import our food. The good news is that we still have time to fix this corrosive problem. Tell Congress we need immigration reform now.

According to the Pedigree Foundation (2010), Shelter dogs aren’t broken. They’ve simply experienced more life. If they were humans, we would call them wise. They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write. The ones dealt a bad hand but who responded with courage. I know how to sit, fetch, and roll over. What I don’t know is how I ended up in here. But I am a good dog, and I just want to go home. Do not pity a shelter dog; adopt one?

According to the American Liver Foundation (2013), were you born between 1945 and 1965? If so, then you’re a member of the Hepatitis C generation. The CDC (Center for Disease Control) recently recommended that all people born between these years have a one-time screening test for Hepatitis C. We now have new drugs that can treat and cure Hepatitis C, so you should go get tested today. The life you save may be your own! Please contact your local healthcare provider.
