Knowledge, attitude, skills are the basic determinants of learning and success that every student needs to learn and apply effectively. Achieving learning objectives is directly dependent on these three factors. Knowledge entails the mental and cognitive abilities to process and retain information. Attitude defines emotions, feelings, values, or beliefs one has about something. Skills, on the other hand, define the physical ability to perform tasks with the required precession and timeliness (Foley, 2020). Students are required to acquire specific skills and gain objective knowledge to ensure success. This paper discusses how students can apply knowledge, attitude, skills to attain this success.
One of the objectives for undergraduate students is to enable them to be professionals in reading and critically analyzing scholarly texts, writing essays, and practicing the knowledge and skills learned. Therefore, they must devise strategic ways to obtain the required skills and knowledge, along with the right attitude to achieve the expected success.
One way of gaining knowledge is through extensive reading. This will keep students informed, stimulate their brain to think critically, and also expand their vocabularies and general knowledge (Foley, 2020). Secondly, a student should set a goal while learning to give them the self-drive to achieve it. Working toward a goal build the right attitude and work towards achieving the goal. During this learning period, students should always strive to learn new things daily.
Many skills required of students, for example, writing quality essays in the right format, are learned through reading and practicing. For instance, once a student learns how to write an essay using APA format, they should go ahead to write using the learned format. Continuous trials and consultations from reading materials and experts should be done to ensure that a student is doing the right thing. After getting it right, students must keep putting that knowledge into practice to perfect it and ensure that they do not forget.
Overcoming fears is one way of building a positive attitude towards something, particularly classwork. Fear cartels growth and progress and make student believes that something is difficult or impossible. For instance, if one thinks that writing an essay in APA is difficult, a student should practice rather than quit totally. One can observe how others do it and try to do the same. People get inspiration for watching and learning from other people because it builds the belief that it is possible (Foley, 2020). Students should network with people in their cycles, such as students and teachers. They can identify some as mentors, keep consulting them, and act on their feedback. Such moves go a long way to ensure that a student develops the right knowledge, skills, and attitude in writing in the learning process.
Learning is a complex and continuous skill that needs students to have the right knowledge, skills, and attitude as they progress. Students must attain these factors to succeed in their education. Therefore, they must strive to adopt and implement the recommended techniques that can help develop knowledge, skills, and attitude for learning. This paper has highlighted some of the ways through which a student can develop the required knowledge, skills, and attitude for learning. Extensive reading and continuous practice and consultations are the primary techniques a student should adopt to gain the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude while learning.
